The CODEV team hasn’t been idle since our last update in June ... Here’s the latest news, focusing mainly on our educational activities.

Launch of CODEV's first collaborative Massive Open Online Course: A Resilient Future - Science and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction

This MOOC brings together technical expertise from several EPFL labs and sections and other major partners active in the DRR field. The MOOC introduces participants to existing and emerging technologies suitable for disaster risk reduction while promoting the overall aim of sustainable development.

New Master Course in Development Engineering offered by CODEV, starting February 2017

Taught by Silvia Hostettler & Klaus Schönenberger, EPFL students will learn about the fundamentals of technologies for development in order to design, pilot, and evaluate appropriate, affordable and robust technologies to address sustainable development challenges in emerging and developing countries.

And last but not least, hearty congratulations to our colleague Abigail Kern for successfully defending her PhD thesis !

Abigail’s thesis on "Crisis and Governance. Urban Governance in a Context of Crisis: Trajectories of Haitian Intermediate Cities after the 2010 Earthquake " under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Claude Bolay and Dr. Christine Lutringer was accepted WITHOUT RESERVATION !
