EPFL School of Engineering well represented at the ISSCC Conference

This year International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), which is a major conference for circuit designers, will be well represented by EPFL’s School of Engineering.
Professor Mahsa Shoaran, head of the Integrated Neurotechnologies Laboratory (INL), will be presenting an invited paper on AI-enhanced neural prostheses along with students from the Advanced Quantum Architecture Lab (AQUA), who will be presenting papers.
Andrea Ruffino will be presenting the paper "A Fully-Integrated 40-nm 5-6.5 GHz Cryo-CMOS System-on-Chip with I/Q Receiver and Frequency Synthesizer for Scalable Multiplexed Readout of Quantum Dots" and will officially receive the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) Predoctoral Achievement Award 2020-2021 obtained for his work on cryogenic CMOS integrated circuits for scalable quantum computing. Preethi Padmanabhan will be presenting the paper "A 256×128 3D-Stacked (45nm) SPAD FLASH LiDAR with 7-Level Coincidence Detection and Progressive Gating for 100m Range and 10klux Background Light".
Professor Edoardo Charbon, head of the AQUA lab, will be chairing a forum on electronics for quantum computing which will gather top researchers in the field, and is receiving the best European paper award for his paper called “A Scalable Cryo-CMOS 2-to-20GHz Digitally Intensive Controller for 4×32 Frequency Multiplexed Spin Qubits/Transmons in 22nm FinFET Technology for Quantum Computers”, which he co-authored with colleagues at TU Delft in 2020.
The International Solid-State Circuits Conference is the foremost global forum for presentation of advances in solid-state circuits and systems-on-a-chip. The Conference offers a unique opportunity for engineers working at the cutting edge of IC design and application to maintain technical currency, and to network with leading experts.
The conference, which is taking place during the whole week, will be held virtually this year, due to the current pandemic situation.
