A paper from Building2050 (EPFL) and Energy Institute (HEIA-FR) will be presented at the 4th International Conference on Renewable Energy Technologies (ICRET 2018), held from January 16 to 18 in University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Conference focuses on timely and emerging topics of interest to the Renewable Energy Technologies, and provides an opportunity for in-depth exchange of research ideas in an informal environment. To encourage discussion and dissemination of the latest research developments, early-stage work, and possibly controversial results, the event brings together leading researchers, engineers and scientists of related disciplines, from around the world.

The conference paper presented by the smart living lab is about an algorithmic regulation using global warming potential of energy flux, to select which installation will satisfy the building energy demand. This algorithm was set up by an inter-institutional group of researchers, within the scope of the Building2050 research programme, and under Didier Vuarnoz’s leadership.

“Development and validation of an intelligent algorithm for synchronizing a low-environmental-impact electricity supply with a building’s electricity consumption” (Thibaut Schafer, Elena-Lavinia Niederhauser, Gabriel Magnin, Didier Vuarnoz).
