Worldwide Cancer Research 2019 grant round
Topic: basic or translational research into the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cancer.
Deadline for institutional validation: 29 April 2019. Call Deadline: 3 May 2019.
The Worldwide Cancer Research launches its 2019 call for proposals to support basic or translational research into the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cancer conducted by top scientists in world-renowned institutions all over the world. The charity invests at least £4 million in research every year.
Established in Scotland in 1979, Worldwide Cancer Research supports research that draws on epidemiological, behavioural and clinical data to provide a starting point for a new avenue of research. Multidisciplinary or discipline-hopping projects are encouraged where this helps stimulate innovation. It does NOT support clinical research, including clinical trials, patient care, nursing or healthcare delivery research, nor any other types of applied cancer research such as policy, public health or psychosocial research.
Applicants must be tenured or tenure-track research group leaders or postdoctoral researchers (min. 3 years after PhD) employed at a research institution anywhere in the world.
The grant amounts to max. £ 250’000 for 12-36 months and can be used to cover personnel costs (incl. social charges), as well as research-related costs, incl. consumables, animal costs, reagents, travel to conferences for personnel paid by the grant, scientific visits and essential services. Note that the PI’s salary can be requested only by postdoctoral researchers who are trying to become independent. The grant does not cover clinical personnel and costs, overheads, equipment (except for small equipment purchased by new group leaders) and publications (open access costs must be requested separately).
