What issues for the building of the future?

An interview of Prof. Emmanuel Rey was part of the radio program "Babylone" of November 30, 2015. On this occasion, Prof. Rey presented the main issues inherent to the building of the future, by making reference to several current researches within the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) and within the framework of the research program developed for the Smart Living Lab.
The radio program "Babylone" on "Espace 2" aims at putting into perspective and debating on current issues, with the motivation to question evidences, ideologies or dogmatisms. Humanities, geopolitics, science, history, philosophy, economics, law and education: all forms of knowledge are called upon and in all forms (interview, reports, debates or documentary).
On the sidelines of the United Nations Organization Conference on Climate Change in Paris (COP 21), the radio program “Babylone” goes to meet those who are committed in changing human activities, taking into account issues related to these global challenges. In this context, the issue of November 30 focused more particularly on the development of buildings in a perspective of sustainability.
During this interview, Prof. Emmanuel Rey explained the issues related to the integration of sustainability in architecture, in particular issues related to energy transition and environmental performance. Beyond the quantifiable performance, he emphasized the need to also take into account qualitative criteria and to integrate socio-cultural aspects related to human well-being in the comprehensive approach.
