After obtaining her Master's degree in Material Science and Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, she started her PhD at LSMS in May 2021. She is enrolled in the EDME Doctoral Program in Mechanics.

A few questions to Parissa :

What is your field of research?
My research aim is to use computational modeling to gain a more realistic understanding of the mechanics of rough contacts. Having a proper model could offer a better insight into material behavior. Moreover, it could help us with having a better estimate about contact loading. Considering the presence of lubricant between contacts and the self-affine nature of the surfaces, numerical modeling could be assumed as an appropriate way to tackle this intricate problem.

Why did you choose this field and what are you particularly enthusiastic about it?
I am fascinated by the benefits of numerical modeling for empirical research. Having developed a mechanical-microstructural code for my master's thesis, I intrigued to work further in computational modeling and use the benefits of different methods and approaches to predict mechanical properties in materials.

Outside the lab, what do you enjoy doing most?
I enjoy reading and painting. Also, I am interested in different cultures and people, and as I am new in Switzerland, I love to explore this country.
