Welcome Ran Zhao & Gaia de Angelis

The SMaL lab is further growing and we are very happy to welcome Ran and Gaia!
Ran obtained her bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry fromBeijing University of Chemical Technology in 2016 and her master degree in Inorganic Chemistry fromthe University of Science and Technology of China in 2019. During her master works she was working on biomimetic structural nanocomposites and macroscale assembly of nanomaterials. At SMaL she will focus on bioinspired CaCO3-based hard and tough composites.
Gaia received her bachelor degree in Chemistry from the University of Reading with an emphasis on analytical chemistry techniques used in bioanalysis. After that she obtained her master degree also from the University on Reading and she mainly worked on the synthesis of self-immolative systems in the Hayes group. Being part of SMaL she will be working on the synthesis of catechol-functionalised surfactants and their application in microfluidics.
