Urs von Gunten awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki honors Urs von Gunten, EPFL honorary professor and world expert in water treatment, by awarding him an honorary doctorate. The ceremony is scheduled for the fall.
On May 28, the Senate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki elected EPFL Honorary Professor Urs von Gunten as an honorary doctor of the School of Chemistry in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The official inauguration ceremony will take place in the fall of this year.
Professor Urs von Gunten is one of the world's most renowned scientists in the field of drinking water treatment, particularly oxidation and disinfection processes. He has been conducting research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag) since 1989. He was a adjunct professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) from 2006 and a full professor at EPFL since 2011.
