For the first time, the Brain Mind Institute (BMI) has awarded its prestigious Thesis Prize to two exceptional PhD graduates, Simona Adele Garobbio and Domenic Burger, recognizing the outstanding quality of their research.
The Brain Mind Institute (BMI) Thesis Prize is awarded once a year to recognize all-round excellence and creative research that has high impact in the scientific community and is exquisitely presented in the manuscript and oral defense.
This year, the BMI Thesis Prize has been awarded to two PhD graduates: Simona Adele Garobbio and Domenic Burger, both having conducted groundbreaking work in their respective fields. Simona Garobbio's thesis was supervised by Professor Michael Herzog, while Domenic Burger’s thesis was supervised by Professor Henning Stahlberg.
“For the first time in its history, the BMI PhD thesis prize will go to two winners!” says Professor Johannes Gräff, director of the EPFL PhD Program in Neuroscience (EDNE). “Both Simona Garobbio and Domenic Burger conducted outstanding theses in their respective domains and are thus the worthy recipient of this prize! They set the bar for future generations very high!”
