Two papers from HOMES are published in TRC

Two of our recent papers are published in Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies:

  • "Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) system as a multi-leader-multi-follower game: A single-level variational inequality (VI) formulation", by Prof. Rui Yao, our previous postdoc and currently Assistant Professor at Technion, and Xinyu Ma, our third-year PhD.
  • "Scalable ride-sourcing vehicle rebalancing with service accessibility guarantee: A constrained mean-field reinforcement learning approach", collaborated with Dr. Matej Jusup, Prof. Francesco Corman, and other ETH colleagues.

Both papers tackle the "curse of dimensionality" in optimizing large-scale transportation systems. The first paper reformulates the highly complex mode and route choice, as well as service design, in the multi-modal transportation with multiple strategic service providers into a single-level VI problem, allowing for efficient solution algorithms. The second paper tackles vehicle rebalancing in ride-sourcing with accessibility guarentee using constrained MFRL that approximates individual vehicles as a continuous distribution.
