Tobias Herr receives a 2015 EPS-QEOD best thesis prize
The Quantum Electronics and Optics Division (QEOD) of the European Physical Society (EPS) has awarded the 2015 Thesis Prize for applied aspects to Dr. Tobias Herr.
Every two years, the Quantum Electronics and Optics Division (QEOD) of the European Physical Society (EPS) announces the winners of a series of prestigious prizes and awards in the area of quantum electronics and optics during the "Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/Europe and the European Quantum Electronics Conference - CLEO®/Europe-I(E)QEC".
Two prizes per domain are awarded for the best theses completed in the preceding two years, respectively on fundamental and applied aspects of quantum electronics and optics.
Dr. Tobias Herr, who won the "applied" award, completed his work “Solitons and dynamics of frequency comb formation in optical microresonators” under the supervision of Prof. T. J. Kippenberg, head of the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements ( LPQM1-SB, LPQM2-STI) in 2013.
He is at present Senior R&D Engineer at Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM).
The award will be presented at a special Plenary Ceremony of the CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2015 to take place on Tuesday morning, June 23rd, 2015 at the Munich conference site.
