TMC is going to use Bio-PET ‘Ecological Plastic' in vehicle interiors
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) annouces it plans to use a new "Ecological Plastic" in vehicle interiors. TMC is going to be the world's first user of bio-PET in vehicle conception.
Toyota will start the use of this plastic at the beginning of 2011 with the luggage-compartment liner of the Lexus CT200h. After that, TMC plans to increase the number of vehicle series using the new bio-PET. Their goal is to introduce a vehicle with 80 percent of Ecological Plastic covering.
This new material has the benefits of being more carbon neutral than petroleum-based plastics. It means that it can contribute to a reduction in the of petroleum ressources.
