Time-based selection of cleanest energy source for buildings

In their latest paper, published in "Sustainable Cities and Society", Didier Vuarnoz and co-authors show how to take advantage of the temporal variation in the primary energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions of the energy supply.

The article, entitled Integrating hourly life-cycle energy and carbon emissions of energy supply in buildings, deals with a modeling framework to assess the sustainable integration and design of renewable energy systems and batteries in buildings.
