Three "ENAC Flagship projects" granted

We're happy to announce the 3 successful ENAC Flagship projects, involving 7 ENAC Professors coming from different research disciplines. The Flagships will receive between 400 and 500 kCHF each and will be running until spring 2026!
The ENAC Flagship project call, aiming to further foster excellent interdisciplinary research at ENAC, was launched on 12 September 2022. Despite the tight two-stage application time-frame, 8 consortia involving a total of 21 different Principle Investigators submitted a pre-proposal by 11 October 2022. We are very grateful for the application efforts made!
Finally, 4 consortia were invited to submit a full proposal, which were reviewed by external and international experts.
Following 3 projects were selected for funding:
1. LASTING: "Methodological framework for enabling re-use of steel structures after extreme loading" - Dimitrios Lignos (RESSLAB / IIC) & Olga Fink (IMOS / IIC)
2. ECO-Plains: "Ecological and climate impacts of Greenlandic glacial outwash plains" - Julia Schmale (EERL / IIE) & Ianina Altshuler (MACE / IIE) & Devis Tuia (ECEO / IIE)
3. ICARUS: "It’s getting crowded in here: balancing indoor climate regulation and pathogen control to minimize energy use and public health burden in urban environments" - Dusan Licina (HOBEL / IIC) & Tamar Kohn (LCE / IIE) - the ICARUS project is 50% co-financed by EPFL Fribourg (Smart Living Lab).
