The School of Life Sciences celebrates at EPFL's Magistrale 2026

EPFL’s School of Life Sciences celebrates 159 graduates at the 2026 Magistrale, the university’s annual graduation ceremony.

Among the 1565EPFL Master graduates of 2026, 159 were from the School of Life Sciences: 96 with a Master in Life Sciences Engineering and 63 with a Master in Neuro-X.

Student Awards – Life Sciences Engineering

  • Best Master’s project: Claire Friedrich
  • Best average grade: Gregor Dominic Dederichs
  • Second-best average: Mireia Blanco Gómez
  • Third-best average: Helena Binková and Tancredi Guido Cogne

The ONWARD Medical Prize rewards the best Master’s project demonstrating excellence and contributing to the advancement of scientific or technical research in the field of neurorehabilitation, was awarded jointly to Alice Canuti (SV) and Shrinidhi Singaravelan (Neuro-X).

The Prix de la commune de Chavannes-près-Renens, which recognizes a student who has left a lasting impression on their class through their behavior or personality during their studies. It was awarded to Alexia Giroud Nyer.

The Polysphère Award for SV went to Professor John McKinney. The Polysphère Awards are given out by EPFL students every year to professors who have stood out for excellence in teaching.

Student Awards, Neuro-X

  • Best Master’s project in Computational Neuroscience, intended to reward students who have presented a high-level master’s project (grade equal to 6.0) in the field of “Computational Neuroscience”: Oskar Boesch and Shrinidhi Singaravelan
  • Best average grade: Iris Maya Toye
  • Second-best average: Laura Ducret

Gabriele Dall’Aglio received the award for Best Work in the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) program, intended to reward the student who has carried out the best work in Social and Human Sciences (SHS) program of a Master’s degree demonstrating the contribution of SHS to engineering studies.

The Life Sciences Engineering section teaching award went to Professor Aleksandar Antanasijevic.

For Neuro-X, the Teaching Award went to Professor Mackenzie Weygandt Mathis.
