A paper written by the Laloui Group Director, Prof. Laloui, and two alumni, Dr. Alice Di Donna and Dr. Alessandro F. Rotta Loria, has received the Scott Sloan Best Paper Award 2021 from the journal Computers and Geotechnics.

Named in honor of the late Scott Sloan, who was formerly chief editor of the journal, the Scott Sloan Best Paper award recognizes papers that have made a significant impact on the field of geotechnical engineering. This impact is based on SCOPUS citations (excluding self-citations) for the previous five years, in conjunction with the opinion of the Editors.

With over 140 citations on Scopus, the paper has had a significant impact in the rapidly expanding field of energy geostructures. The paper investigates the role thermal load plays on the structural integrity of energy piles which was relatively unknown until this point.

Our heartiest congratulations to Prof. Laloui and Drs. Di Donna and Rotta Loria.
