The 2011 Annual Life Sciences Symposium is about cancer

The research undertaken at the famous ISREC Institute, since 2007 homed at the EPFL School of Life Sciences, is on stage from September 7 to 10, 2011 with an important symposium on ""Hallamarks & Horizons of Cancer"...

The theme of the 2011 symposium is centered upon an organizing principle - the hallmarks of cancer - that has proved instructive for appreciating underlying commonalities to the vast number of disparate and complex human cancers. The premise, laid out by Hanahan and Weinberg in 2000, is that most lethal tumors acquire, by different ways and means, a common set of six capabilities that are collectively necessary for tumors to grow and disseminate.
