SwissnexDay'19 to focus on Space Technology for a sustainable future

Switzerland is a recognised space nation and has been a crucial partner in European and global space adventures since their beginnings: It contributed to all Apollo missions, pioneered the field of exoplanet research, and is a founding member of the European Space Agency (ESA).
The swissnex Network is organising their signature event, SwissnexDay'19 on December 11 to discuss how space technologies like satellite Earth observation, communication and navigation or microgravity research can benefit life on Earth, create market opportunities and foster economic development.
While the potential of space applications is enormous, serious obstacles remain, in particular the issue of space debris. This has been one of the areas of research at the EPFL Space Center (eSpace) for a number of years, and Muriel Richard-Noca, Senior space engineer at eSpace and co-founder of ClearSpace SA, will be amongst the panellists at the event discussing the topic.
Other panellists will include Susmita Mohanty, CEO of Earth2Orbit (E2O) and Nicolas Thomas, Professor of Experimental Physics, University of Bern.
Keynote discussions on the day will include Minoo Rathnasabapathy (MIT Media Lab), an expert in advancing justice in Earth's complex systems using designs enabled by space, and Moriba Jah (University of Austin), a world-recognized researcher in astrodynamics-based space domain awareness sciences and technologies.
The event will also be an opportunity for EPFL to showcase some of the student-led initiatives and projects inspired and supported by eSpace.
