The 8th International Buildings Physics Conference 2021 took place online on 25-27 of August. The IBPC conferences unite educators, researchers, students, and practitioners from the construction sector worldwide.

At the prestigious triennial conference IBPC 2021, TEBEL presented three works. Two conference contributions led by the Ph.D. student Mohammad Rahiminejad were related to the thermal resistance of the ventilated air spaces behind external claddings and in-situ measurements of the U-value in ventilated walls. The other contribution led by Prof. Khovalyg was an interdisciplinary collaborative work between TEBEL and CCLab. The work presented a feasibility study for a multifunctional glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) slab, including structural and thermal performance considerations. Since a GFRP radiant system is a novel system, no design methodology has been developed yet. This work illustrated the preliminary design flow for a specific office case building and its thermal loads. The novel work was awarded the Best Paper Award by the Scientific Committee of IBPC 2021. All conference papers are published open access in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series.
