Congratulations to Professor Stéphanie Lacour, who has been selected as a Young Global Leader in the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Forum of Young Global Leaders is a unique, multistakeholder community of more than 900 exceptional young leaders. Bold, brave, action-oriented and entrepreneurial, these individuals commit both their time and talent to make the world a better place. The Young Global Leaders include leaders from politics, business, civil society, academia, and arts and culture across seven geographic regions.

Each year, the very best candidates from thousands of nominations worldwide are selected to join the community. This year’s class of Young Global Leaders (YGLs) come from 66 countries and equally represent the public and private sector. Out of 187 YGLs honoured, half are women.

Stéphanie P. Lacour holds the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology at EPFL, and is a founding member of EPFL Centre for Neuroprosthetics. Her lab challenges and seeks to advance our fundamental concepts in man-made electronic interfaces applied to biological systems. Specifically, the focus is on designing and manufacturing electronic devices with mechanical properties close to that of the host biological tissues so that long-term reliability and minimal perturbation are induced in vivo and/or truly wearable systems become possible.
