This special issue of Environmental Science and Technology is entitled "Oxidative Water Treatment: The Track Ahead". It pays tribute to EPFL Professor and Eawag scientist Urs von Gunten who received the 2022 ACS Award for Creative Advances in Environmental Science and Technology for his contributions to oxidation processes.
