Four SOILies presented their research at the EGU General Assembly 2026 in Vienna.
The EGU General Assembly brought together geoscientists from around the world in Vienna from 3 to 8 May 2026. The SOIL lab was well represented, with four contributions covering topics from soil carbon dynamics in alpine landscapes to mineral redox chemistry and wetland biogeochemistry.
Bence Dienes presented his work on Mineral and thermodynamic controls on soil organic carbon stabilisation along a soil moisture gradient in the Swiss Alps. Filippo Miele presented Tidal branching wetlands morphology and its role on water-carbon budget cycles. Xinru Liu presented Predicting rates of manganese oxide reduction from thermodynamic driving forces and structural properties. Vineeth Pothanamkandathil presented Quantification of Mn(III)-Oxide Redox Activity: Integrating Mediated Electrochemistry with Kinetic and Mass-Transport Modelling.
Congratulations to all four for representing the lab so well in Vienna!
