The third edition of the short-course for practitioners and academics entitled "Energy Geostructures: Analysis and Design" was successfully organized by Prof. Lyesse Laloui and Prof. Alessandro F. Rotta Loria.

The short course took place online on November 2 - 4, 2020, accounting for 19 participants from 10 countries. The lectures also featured the presence of world-renowned experts in the field, such as Mr. Tony Amis (GI Energy), Mr. Luis de Pereda (Eneres) and Mr. Didier Mülhauser (Marti SA).

The first day of the course was dedicated to the energy performance of energy piles, walls, tunnels, and anchors, discussing the theoretical aspects governing the thermal exchange processes. On the second day, the topics covered their geotechnical and structural performance, discussing the theoretical aspects of the deformation processes involved. Dedicated exercise sessions were included and different energy geostructures projects were also presented. Finally, the third and last day of the course featured presentations by invited speakers, who shared their return of experience from different completed projects in the industry. A final lecture and exercise session related to the performance-based design of energy geostructures in the framework of Eurocodes provided a closing contribution to the course.

The next edition will take place on November 1 - 3, 2021.
