As digitalization seems to outpace the expansion of basic infrastructure and services, urban planners should reconsider the role that digital technologies could play in supporting decision-making in African cities.

SenseCity explores the potential offered by communication technologies and the ubiquity of Internet access to address urban challenges in Africa.

SenseCity displays urban data produced by “human sensors”, through the use of connected devices (smarphones or tablets). This experiment is materialized in the form of georeferenced images featuring qualitative attributes (“tags”).

Everyone is invited to contribute by uploading photos illustrating their own urban experience on the continent.
