The SENSE team took advantage of the excellent weather to carry out a field campaign on Lake Léman. Sébastien Lavanchy, Hugo Cruz, and Santona Khatun loaded the EPFL 4x4, towed the trailer with the Elodea boat perfectly suited for our lake measurements, and spent a full day collecting data on the lake.

The goal of this outing was to test the SubOcean laser instrument before its shipment to Canada, where it will take part in the CASCADES expedition this summer and autumn in the fjords of Greenland and the Baffin Sea, along the coasts of Ellesmere Island in northern Canada.

The outcome of this campaign included high-quality measurements of dissolved methane and nitrous oxide, confirming the instrument’s excellent performance before being deployed under the extreme conditions of the upcoming expedition.
