Selective oxidation and depolymerization of α,γ-protected lignin

Our paper on the selective oxidation and depolymerization of α,γ-protected lignin was published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition! Wu Lan and Jean Behaghel de Bueren developed a method to selectively oxidized the α,γ-protected lignin using DDQ/HNO₃/O₂ system and depolymerized the oxidized lignin in formic acid/sodium formic solution to produce phenyl propane dione with more than 90% selectivity.
