See-you-Outside LA@LauzHack
The Laboratoire d'Automatique participate to the 2020 LauzHack online hackathon dedicated to tackling the coronavirus crisis and proposed the See-you-outide visual tool to simulate the consequences of different policies adopted in releasing the lockdown, and possibly to compute an optimal policy given a scenario and some target.
When the most critical phase of the pandemic passes, the main issue will be deciding how to ease lockdown and allow people getting back to their activities. The case of Hong Kong suggests that the release cannot be immediate and a gradual policy is required. This scenario is unprecedented and decision-makers lack tools to quantitatively assess the consequences of their actions. We propose a study to extend existing and proven epidemic models in order to take into account the economic and social consequences of possible policies. Once a complete model is available, it can be used not only for what-if analysis but also to design ad-hoc optimal strategies for different scenarios (e.g. availability of tracking systems, the capacity of the health system, ...). The final outcome will be a visual tool to simulate the consequences of different policies adopted in releasing the lockdown, and possibly to compute an optimal policy given a scenario and some target.
