The Research Office launched a ‘Research Ethics Pack’ for EPFL researchers during an ethics event entitled ‘How to address ethical issues in grant applications and to obtain ethical clearance of your research projects’ which took place on 21 May 2015.

The ‘Research Ethics Pack’ includes information, tools and guidance for researchers who need to submit an application for ethical clearance of their research projects. Information on when and how to apply for ethical approval, authorizations needed, applicable legislation, policies, guidelines and checklists can be found on the new Research Ethics web-site that was created by the Research Office for this purpose.

During the ethics event on 21 May the key changes under the ‘new’ Swiss law (Human Research Act) were also discussed as well as the implications on the ethical clearance of research projects involving human beings. Attention was also paid to research projects involving animals; the applicable legislation, important principles and authorizations needed. The presentations of the event are available for EPFL members on the ‘Events’ page of the Research Office/International Funding.

For more information on research ethics and application procedures to obtain ethical clearance, please do not hesitate to contact the Research Office.
