In 2009, ten bike-sharing stations appeared on the UNIL-EPFL campus. Today, more than 3'000 registered students and employees can borrow a bike at all times.

From August this year, the whole Lausanne-Morges bike-sharing network will be upgraded, including the EPFL. The mechanical stands will disappear and be replaced with locks on the new bicycles. Registered users will be able to unlock those locks with a smartphone App or with their CAMIPRO card.

Thewse new bicycles will meet with the current technologies and they were specifically designed for bike-sharing systems. Electrical assistance will be available on 70% of the fleet: it will automatically start at 3km/h (~2mph) and stop above 25 km/h (~16 mph). The eletric motor will automatically recognize hillsides and hill start for a dynamic assistance.

A new subscription will accompany this renewal: the EPFL will offer 60 minutes for free on each use and it will be valid on PubliBike national network. The new subscription procedure and detailed information will be communicated later.
