Professorship for Dr. Yifan Hu at Rutgers University

From 2022 to 2025, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Risk Analytics and Optimization (RAO) Laboratory at EPFL. Prior to that, he earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

Yifan’s research focuses on optimal decision-making under uncertainty, at the intersection of optimization, statistics, and operations research. His work addresses challenges in reinforcement learning, alignment and fine-tuning of large language models, large-scale causal inference and discovery, and operations management. He aims to develop new models and practical, easy-to-implement methods with strong theoretical guarantees.
