In July 2023 Soroosh Shafieezadeh-Abadeh has taken up an appointment as Assistant Professor in the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University.

Soroosh received his Ph.D. degree from EPFL in 2020, where he worked in the Risk Analytics and Optimization laboratory. Before that, he received a Bachelor and a Master degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran. From 2021 to 2023 Soroosh held postdoctoral positions at ETH Zurich and at Carnegie Mellon University.

His primary research interests revolve around optimization under uncertainty, low-complexity decision-making and optimal transport. He is particularly interested in designing new models and algorithms based on (distributionally) robust optimization, in the statistical and computational complexity analysis of data-driven optimization problems and in structured nonconvex optimization with applications in machine learning and finance.
