Professors David Atienza, head of the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) from the School of Engineering, and Giovanni De Micheli, head of the Integrated Systems Laboratory (LSI), from the School of Engineering and School of Computer and Communication Sciences, have been awarded the prestigious 2024 Test-of-Time Award by the ACM/IEEE International Conference on Hardware/Software Codesign and System Synthesis (CODES+ISSS).

The award recognizes their 2007 paper, “Temperature-aware Processor Frequency Assignment for MPSoCs Using Convex Optimization,” which has had a lasting impact on the design of embedded and computing systems. Given to papers published at least 15 years ago, this accolade honors research that has significantly influenced modern system design.
