Professor Devis Tuia new Director of SSIE

Professor Devis Tuia is set to succeed Professor Alcherio Martinoli as Director of the Section of Environmental Science and Engineering (SSIE), joining the EPFL Executive Board within the ENAC Faculty in March 2026.
The ENAC Faculty is pleased to announce Professor Tuia's appointment as head of the SSIE. He succeeds Professor Alcherio Martinoli, who has led the section with dedication and vision over the past few years.
Focusing his research at the Environmental Computational Science and Earth Observation Laboratory (ECEO), Professor Tuia is an expert in the use of remote sensing imagery and artificial intelligence applied to Earth sciences. His work focuses particularly on Earth observation using various data sources, and on developing computational methods to improve our understanding of environmental systems.
