Harry Gugger has left on retirement on February 1st 2021.

He was a key member of our faculty for nearly two decades and has marked EPFL architecture at ENAC as much as he has the Swiss and international scene in architecture and culture. The Schaulager, the Laban Dance Center, or the Tate Modern are buildings that have introduced new concepts of cohabitation of the arts with the public. As key partner at Herzog De Meuron he was at the core of such inventions. Being awarded with the Meret Oppenheim Prize he contributes to architecture with his own firm Harry Gugger Studio since 2010. At EPFL architecture he leaves a generation of highly skilled and motivated architects and urbanists – equipped with an unparalleled toolbox fostered by the outstanding methodology he has developed with his laboratory LABA. His research contributed significantly to a reconsideration of the operational modes of architects vis-à-vis the environment. The publications he leaves from Havanna Lessons to Manor Lessons constitute the legacy of his research and teaching. We are happy to know that Professor Harry Gugger will continue to practice as influential member of the Architecture scene. We wish him all the best.
