Le Professeur Andrew Barry, directeur de l'Institut d’ingénierie de l’environnement (IIE), prendra un congé sabbatique du 14 mars au 31 août 2022. Durant cette période, ils sera remplacé par le Professeur Andrea Rinaldo.
Andrea Rinaldo did his BE+MS summa cum laude in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Padua (1978), and his PhD at Purdue University (USA) (1983). He is Doctor of Science honoris causa Université du Québec-Laval & INRS (CA) (2014). Full Professor of Hydraulic Constructions at the University of Padua (IT) (1986-present), he joined EPFL/ENAC in January 2008 as Professor of Hydrology and Water Resources, and is Director of the Laboratory of Ecohydrology ECHO/IIE. He served as Director of the IIE (2010-2014). He is President of Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venice (IT). Among recognitions, he received the AGU Hydrology Award (1999), the EGU Dalton Medal (2005), the international prizes Gatto (1984) and Tartufari (2014) from Accademia dei Lincei, and the 4th Prince Sultan Abdulaziz International Water prize (2010). Fellow of the AGU (2000) and of the Hagler Institute of Advanced Studies (2018-2022). He got an ERC Advanced grantee in 2009. Among others, he is a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, of the US National Academy of Engineering (2006), the US National Academy of Sciences (2012), the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2018), and a fellow of the Italian National Academy of Sciences (i Lincei).
