Prize for the best young crystallographer
Andrzej Gladysiak
PhD student within the Laboratory of Molecular Simulations (LSMO) at EPFL Valais Wallis, has recently participated in the Zurich School of Crystallography 2017, where he was awarded the Prize for the best young crystallographer. The School encompassed 72 hours of lectures and practical work covering all basic topics in modern small-molecule crystallography. During the practical sessions, Andrzej collected data, solved and refined several structures from his research project concerning the synthesis of new metal–organic frameworks. In the final exam, Andrzej was placed at the top (with a ‘substantial difference’ as Prof. Anthony Linden mentioned), and the prize was awarded by the directors of the School, Prof. Anthony Linden and Prof. Hans-Beat Bürgi, both from the University of Zurich.
