Preliminary enrollment figures

Every fall we issue preliminary figures on the total number of students in each of our main programs, as well as the first-year exam results from the previous school year. The enrollment estimates for 2017–2018 are vital for helping us prepare for the arrival of thousands of students and plan out course schedules.

This year’s main findings are:

  • The estimated total enrollment is higher this year versus last year for each program: up 8% for the preparatory class; up 1% for the Bachelor’s program; up 4% for the Master’s program; and up 1% for the PhD program.
  • The number of incoming freshmen in the Bachelor’s program is 7% higher than last year.
  • The number of new Bachelor’s students from French schools is up 14%, and 50% of new Bachelor’s students come from foreign schools (44% French and 6% other). However it’s worth noting that the drop-out rate remains high for foreign students until the end-October deadline, at which point the official enrollment figures are tallied.
  • The number of new students in our Master’s program is up 11%.
