Power Electronics for Future Energy Systems

Over the last few years, Power Electronics Laboratory has been receiving great support for its research activities from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. We have been looking into various medium voltage direct current (MVDC) technologies and their impact on future energy systems. Recently, our research activities have been directed towards the medium voltage power electronics conversion technologies for hydropower applications, an extremly important segment of the Swiss energy landscape.

In both of these research directions, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy was essential for providing essential funding, enabling us to develop our research activities further and bring relevant industrial partners closer. An article has been recently prepared describing some of these research projects and is available in French and German. We are grateful for all the received support and looking forward to new exciting research projects.
