Prof. Emmanuel Rey of the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) was recently one of the experts interviewed in the radio program "Futur antérieur" on "RTS La Première". On this occasion, he presented the main challenges facing peri-urban neighborhoods in the context of the energy transition.

The program "Future antérieur" aims to interview citizens, experts, scientists, adventurers and leaders who work today to invent the world of tomorrow. For a week, the program was devoted to the future of peri-urban areas, giving voice to a series of experts of the built environment.

Based on several ongoing works, including the research project "Living Peripheries" realized with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), Prof. Emmanuel Rey highlighted the specific issues induced by the characteristics of peri-urban residential neighborhoods.

In particular, he highlighted the major challenges related to the densification of this type of territory, the evolution of mobility, the contribution to the energy transition, the search for innovative typologies for housing, and the spatial integration of teleworking.
