Fatigue Investigations of a Converter-Fed Variable Speed Pump-Turbine for Flexible Power Generations
Mr. Daniel Biner has successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis, titled "Fatigue Investigations of a Converter-Fed Variable Speed Pump-Turbine for Flexible Power Generations". The thesis was co-supervised by Prof. Cecile Mènch-Alligné (HES-SO Sion, Switzerland). The examination committee was composed of Prof. Alexandre Presas (UPC, Spain), Dr. Nicolas Ruchonnet (Andritz, Switzerland), Prof. Eunok Yim (EPFL, Switzerland), and supported by Prof. Francois Maréchal (EPFL, Switzerland). The thesis deals with the numerical modeling and experimental investigations of fatigue stresses in hydropower plants. The research work is conducted within the EU project XFLEX HYDRO.
