Should buildings learn our behavior? Amirreza Heidari gave a Smart Living Lab talk on December 15 on the application of Reinforcement Learning for hot water systems in buildings.

Doctoral researcher Amirreza Heidari presented online his application of the Reinforcement Learning (RL) control framework to a residential case study in Switzerland. The talk describes one of the case studies he uses for his Ph.D. project on developing a smart RL-based control framework that can learn the stochastic behavior of users and the stochastic renewable energy potential, and thus enable a balance between energy use, comfort, and hygiene in residential hot water systems.
