Nomination of one new Tenure Track Assistant Professor at SB

We warmly welcome Prof. Sven Wang, who has started his appointment as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Institute of Mathematics of the School of Basic Sciences, on September 1st 2025.

Sven Wang is a highly creative young scientist who has already gained recognition through remarkable achievements and several awards. He received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 2020, then pursued postdoctoral research at MIT from 2021 to 2023, before becoming an Assistant Professor at Humboldt University of Berlin.

His research programme focuses on statistical methods of nonparametric inference, uncertainty quantification and prediction in complex models. Sven Wang's work revolves around theoretical analysis of the accuracy of statistical methods and the computational complexity of corresponding algorithms.

With his enthusiasm and his ability to connect fundamental theory to concrete applications, he fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly in his new role at EPFL.
