I am interested in the interplay between theory vs practice and the analytical vs the physical

Before starting my postdoc at the CONSTRUCT Laboratory, I worked at a building engineering and consultancy firm called ABT in Delft in The Netherlands, as a developer. During my time at ABT I worked on automating and optimizing design workflows, data analysis and studies, and research. I obtained my PhD degree at Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, on building spatial design optimization methods applied to structural and thermal objectives.

For my career I am interested in the interplay between theory vs practice and the analytical vs the physical. In structural design this interplay is very pronounced which motivated during my studies. Additionally, I like programming, which offers me more handles to work and research more efficiently or explore completely new things.

During my postdoc I will research improving the design of concrete structures for sustainability. I am happy I found this opportunity, because it matches my interests and strengths and it allows me to contribute to find solutions to the global problems around the emission of greenhouse gasses.

For fun I like to run and hike. I feel that Switzerland will be a great country for me to live in and explore. I also like to travel around the world and experience new cultures and food.
