Following tests of streaming video platforms in 2022, the Library has subscribed to Kanopy's offer this year. You will find nearly 10'000 feature films, award-winning documentaries, and educational content in a wide variety of themes like architecture, environmental science, or computer science. Major producers of world cinema are represented in Kanopy’s collections, including Criterion, Kino Lorber, Outcast Films, and The Great Courses.

All videos are available from the EPFL campus or via the VPN, and can be broadcast in the classroom (only for educational purposes).

To access the contents via the Kanopy application (available on IOS or Android), or to try out the features specific for studying and teaching activities (e.g. create a playlist), you will need to create an account with an @epfl.ch address. To integrate a video into Moodle, no need to create an account, just click on “share” below each video and copy the "Embed this video" link.

Technical tip: if you search for a Kanopy video in the Google search engine, sometimes "/epfl" will not always be correctly added to the video URL and it may appear that you do not have access. In this case, the message "Start watching with your public library card or university login" is displayed under the video, so click on the "watch now" button, then on "find your university" and look for the EPFL, you will then be correctly redirected to our video if it is included in our collections.

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact EPFL Library electronic documentation team: [email protected].
