New review on mPFC's role during memory consolidation
Lucie Dixsaut and Johannes Gräff just published a review on the latest findings about the medial prefrontal cortex's essential role in fear memory.
In “The medial prefrontal cortex and fear memory: dynamics, connectivity and engrams” published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences on November 9, Lucie and Johannes review the evidence suggesting that the mPFC is essential during the whole life time of a fear memory, notably due to its high functional connectivity across the brain.
They also describe the different theories of memory formation and how they can explain such findings.
