Our paper "Bayesian Error-in-Variables Models for the Identification of Distribution Grids" has been accepted and published in the March 2023 Volume of IEEE Transactions on smart grid (available here).
Obtaining and accurate model of power systems is no easy feat, especially when it comes to large distribution grids. The stakes are high: even seemingly small modeling errors can waste energy and delay the repairs in case of a problem. With direct measurements of distribution grid parameters being very labor-intensive, researchers came up with methods to estimate the parameters using voltage and current measurements. However, these estimates can be very erroneous. In our paper, we explore the sources of these errors and provide powerful statistical tools to mitigate their impact in the real world.
