Forrest Webler joined forces with the LIPID on September 15, 2017. He is registered in the Civil and Environmental Doctoral Program (EDCE).

Forrest Webler studied physics and biomedical engineering at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island before joining LIPID in the fall of 2017. His previous work related to improving high-precision measurement techniques for the ATLAS alignment system at CERN. His bachelor thesis resulted in a US Patent application (which was recently registered with WIPO) for ‘Systems and methods for measuring the sclera of the eye’ using re-purposed technology from the ATLAS experiment. His work on the human eye and advanced camera systems brought his focus to human-centric data collection for improved user experience in the built environment. His doctoral thesis looks at how new wearable sensor technology can be used to collect light exposure data at the eye to help identify the impact of the light environment on human biological rhythms. His thesis is co-directed by Professor Marilyne Andersen and Dr. Manuel Spitschan.
