New PhD student at EESD

Hnat Lesiv graduated in Civil and Environmental Engineering (BSc) with outstanding GPA of 4/4 at University of Nicosia and was awarded the best student prize in Advanced Structural Engineering (MSc) at Imperial College London. Subsequently, Hnat worked as a structural engineer in a prestigious London consultancy for a period of 2 years, while improving modelling skills and developing scripting expertise.

Hnat joins EESD research group at EPFL as part of the EPFLGlobalLeaders Program, which is a new doctoral fellowship programme for the next generation of sustainable science leaders. He will be working on creating digital twins for externally reinforced walls built with demolition waste. This project addresses questions related to the efficient modelling of randomly shaped units, the modelling of the external reinforcement and their validation through large scale tests on such walls.
