Welcome to Ernesto Inzunza Araya!

Ernesto Inzunza Araya started his studies in Santiago, Chile and obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Universidad de Chile. Subsequently, he gained extensive expertise in laboratory work by participating for more than 4 years in various research projects related to the experimental study of reinforced concrete and masonry elements at Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, respectively. His last academic experience was as a part of the Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (SAHC) program, where he recently obtained his Master’s degree in 2020 after carrying out the courses at Universidade do Minho, Portugal and the dissertation at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain.

During his PhD at ESSD, Ernesto will develop his research in the numerical and experimental analysis of unreinforced masonry walls. The main objective will be to refine the design criteria related with the deformation capacity of these structural elements leading to a more precise performance-based analysis.
