New paper in ISME Journal
Congratulations to Karen Viacava for her paper on "Meta-omics-aided isolation of an elusive anaerobic arsenic-methylating soil bacterium".
In this study we used a combination of three meta-omic techniques (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics and metaproteomics) for the targeted isolation of a bacterium member of a rice paddy soil-derived microbial community. This novel isolate is capable of carrying the methylation of arsenic under anoxic conditions, an elusive phenotype until now. This work opens the path to future research avenues for the study of soil microbiomes, the biogeochemical cycle of arsenic, and other metals and metalloids, and the meta-omics-aided isolation of microorganisms of interest."
